The frame has always represented a logical and necessary element of windows. It has been improved to follow the evolving needs of internal comfort and the standardization of local regional codes. This trend was successful since more complex frames resulted in improvements to performance.

However we have now reached a point where improvements have been guided by the same principles for too long: more cavities, more insulation layers, more complex shapes, new materials, etc. With each “innovation” comes a corresponding increase in complexity and product price.

As such we came up with Ufo, a Frameless window fixing system that looks to rethinking the Window Unit. The design is applicable to all windows that are inserted into exterior thermally insulated walls. The design lends itself particularly well to where there is a ventilated air-cavity and a rain-screen cladding.

The absence of a frame decreases manufacturing cost, yet can be engineered to perform as required by local comfort criteria. Such a concept is intended to be minimal, efficient and cost effective.
